I took a weekend trek out to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to hunt down the wildflowers that everyone raves about this time of year.

I didn’t find rolling meadows of wildflowers — a disappointment. But I did find patches of flowers spread throughout a beautiful hike in Borrego Palm Canyon.

The great part about the hike was that it is not yet sweltering hot in the desert. If you’re planning on heading out to the desert and don’t want deal with the scorching heat, now is the time.
