Thanks for your article on the city’s plan for a new building “(Next Stop for New City Hall: Voters,” July 19, 2010). Here is a follow-up angle for you. The 1200 3rd Ave. building — in which the city has lots of offices — I believe is for sale and can be purchased for much less than building new space. Why not just buy the building right across from where they are now?

Rehab the existing City Hall into useful space at a fraction of the cost … and you’re done! It would be much much more cost-effective.
