Dear Editor,

As you suggest, I’d like to comment on the new UT newspaper design.

First, and most importantly for us seniors, everything is smaller. The type is very difficult to read even with my reading glasses. I didn’t need my glasses before.

Next, the type styles which everybody is raving about only serve to further confuse me in following the columns. The header type blends in with the rest of the paper, and I can’t distinguish the individual headlines as well.

Lastly, when they color the background combined with the smaller type, really makes reading difficult.

One thing about change is it takes a while to get used to. I’ve given this new style a week, and I’m having real problems with it all. I didn’t care about their rearranging of sections and content but the rest of the change, especially the small type, is not appealing to me. The new changes to the paper are NOT senior friendly, and I would expect seniors are a majority of their subscribers.

The only reason I’m maintaining my subscription for now is for the comics. The rest of the news I can get on-line in an easier to read format.
