During the nine months I’ve been covering arts, I’ve worked with our partners at NBC San Diego to make a televised version every week of one of the fascinating stories bubbling up from this county’s wide-ranging arts and culture scene.

When I was chatting with Catherine Garcia in the clip below, she remarked that the weekly segments have made her realize just how much is going on in San Diego arts.

I’ve been learning a lot, too. It’s that kind of surprise, and the delight of discovering new things, that motivates our event Wednesday evening. In the clip I mention some of the reasons for the confab and some of the speakers. The one speaker I forget to mention in a moment of short-term memory loss is Evan Schumacher who’ll be speaking about how a local ensemble is making classical music hip.
