Dear Kelly,

Thank you for your informative and accurate article about the Spreckels Organ and the civic organist position. The pavilion is a wonderful venue and offers inspirational music free to everyone. The concerts are part of a 96 year tradition that we hope will continue without interruption, indefinitely.

The civic organist’s contract renewal for the next ten years, as recommended by the city’s Park & Recreation Department, is expected to come up for City Council discussion and approval in late July. We invite all interested and concerned citizens to attend that meeting to support the contract renewal and continuance of the position in the Park & Recreation Department.

Watch our Spreckels Organ Society website at sosorgan.com for further updates.

In the meanwhile, we invite everyone reading this communication to join us at the organ pavilion any Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for the festival concerts throughout August. They are unique San Diego musical opportunities not to be missed.

Sincerely,

Ronald De Fields, president of the Spreckels Organ Society.
