Last Saturday, reporter Adrian Florido and I wove our way along a windy La Mesa road to find ourselves in a front-yard orchard with a pack of urban gleaners.
The small group was on a mission. They planned to pack a Toyota Prius and a Honda Civic full of fresh fruit and take it back to the food pantry at the International Rescue Committee’s offices. From there, it would be distributed to hungry San Diegans.
Florido and I chronicled the process as they loaded boxes and boxes of fruit. Check out Florido’s story here and some other photos I shot, below:
