Here’s our latest roundup highlighting the discussion from the week:

Mary Laiuppa on “Teachers Union: We Don’t Really Support Changing Layoff Deadline“:

Exactly what are my dues paying for?

This public relations nightmare the SDEA leadership has just cr@pped on all of us?

That’s not what I signed up for.

And this decision by the SDEA leadership is not what I voted for.

You no longer have my support.

And I’ll bet I’m not the only one.

(Will Carless has more on teacher reaction to the union decision.)

Allison Brenneise on “Letter: More Unity Needed in Schools Community“:

I am of the belief that real collaboration and “we-ness” could be had if and only if there was mutual respect between the community and the district. Community members, remember that includes parents of students in school, need to be respected when they present information or attempt to collaborate with the District as does the District.

Jerry Hughes on “No. 7: The Future of Balboa Park (Top 12 in ’12)“:

But considering the millions of dollars that Mr. Jacob would, generously be donating, these improvements are just that—-great improvements to the quality of our visits to Balboa Park. Tweak your plan, Mr. Jacobs, and gain more acceptance.

Jon Osborn on “DeMaio’s Convention Center Flubs: Fact Check“:

Perhaps DeMaio should read VOSD. Then he would have seen the “Cushman debunking.”

Jeff Brazel on “In Fire Blame Game, SDG&E Wants a Blank Check“:

Asking for rate payers to fund the costs of doing business should be expected, even when they make mistakes. This is not a normal business, but they are a monopoly, and we do not want them to operate as a normal business.
