Mayor Bob Filner recently accused Council President Todd Gloria of overstepping his authority by moving forward with some regional planning board appointments without the mayor’s approval.

The two later made amends but they’re now poised for another battle, this time over the City Council’s recent port commission appointments.

We also vetted an assistant police chief’s claim about a spike in police calls involving residents who may be suicidal or struggling with a mental-health crisis.
