Tomorrow voters in San Diego’s southeastern neighborhoods will decide on their new City Council member. I spoke on KPBS’s Midday Edition Roundtable on the issues District 4 faces and briefly about major candidates Myrtle Cole, Dwayne Crenshaw, Barry Pollard and Bruce Williams.

We touched on last week’s editorial by community newspaper Voice & Viewpoint, which decided in part not to support Crenshaw because he’s gay. The paper endorsed Pollard. My take: Every candidate should be held to the same standards when judging their merits, qualifications and plans they have for the district. Someone’s sexual orientation shouldn’t factor into that discussion.

You can review of all our District 4 coverage, including a video explainer, here. On the radio show, we also discussed recent local energy stories, problems surrounding San Diego Hospice and the latest decisions by Mayor Bob Filner.
