When French solar manufacturing company Soitec rolled into town a few years back, it was met with plenty of fanfare – not to mention a hefty federal grant and state tax incentives.

But the company’s shown signs of floundering lately, and earlier this week, announced it would cut 100 of the 250 jobs at its Rancho Bernardo plant.
