San Diego County has a surprising problem on its hands: the region has too much water, and local water agencies are struggling because of it.

In this week’s podcast, our hosts explain how we got into this situation, why it’s unlikely to change anytime soon and how this surplus is expected to impact our water bills.

The VOSD crew also takes a look into San Diego schools, which may follow the lead of the Los Angeles Unified School District and move to ban cell phones on campus.

Education reporter Jakob McWhinney will then break down his latest investigation into a Hoover High School associate principal who was arrested in connection with allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor. Documents obtained by Voice of San Diego show the district received at least one complaint of a similar nature before promoting him.

Also, VOSD editor and CEO Scott Lewis will give listeners an update on state tax measures set to appear on our ballots, and how new developments are expected to impact local initiatives such as the proposed stormwater tax.
