Wednesday, May 31, 2006 | There’s no doubt that pay and benefits are part of the problem with getting and retaining qualified officers, but it sickens me to see people like Jim Madaffer and Toni Atkins pontificating on the subject.

Both of these brain-dead cretins voted for the 2002 pension plan improvements. Both of them voted for the city’s “last and final offer,” which was imposed on the union without agreement from the POA and which, I believe, had no raises for the cops. They did this not once, but twice.

In addition, Madaffer added to the pension problem with his scheme to give Mike Gotch and other politicians who had left city employ a long time ago a pension boost which is, to say the least, irregular. You ought to remind the public of these things whenever Atkins, Madaffer, Peters or Maienschein start spouting off on the police situation.
