Thursday, June 1, 2006 | How can sensible people keep saying that California is “throwing money at education” when our state funds public education either at the bottom of the 10 large industrial states, or next to the bottom of all the states, depending on whose statistics you use.

No one claims that we have reached the average of funding provided by other states. But then we turn around and say that we are going to do a better job of patrolling the border because we are spending more money on training border patrol officers, etc.

So funding makes a difference on issues that you care about and doesn’t on those you don’t?
