Friday, June 16, 2006 | Some folks call our airport an embarrassment, I don’t think it is yet. I have read many comments on how nice it is to land here. Pilots may not agree, but it is what we have. When the city had thousands of acres of available land, we didn’t plan for the future. Now we are short of large tracts which would accommodate a large airport similar to Dallas or Denver. Michael Grant’s idea of making Lindbergh the best it can be for the near future is only reasonable.

We are a large military town; we receive billions in benefits from the military. If you look far enough west there is China and N. Korea, beyond them are the oil states. I don’t think the military will give up Miramar or North Island, nor should they. The Navy has just announced a major expansion of the hospital. Perhaps the airport authority wasted our time and money in looking at these military sites. Maybe we need a new commission so we can waste more time and money, in the meantime I would suggest making

Lindbergh the best it can be.
