I’m reading along my own copy as the mayor publicly reads his statement to the City Council about how the so-called audit committee is bilking the city. And the remarks he released yesterday are pretty much exactly what he’s reading to the City Council.

Pretty much exactly.

He’s left out some interesting passages from the printed statement he released.

In the released statement it said this for example (emphasis added):

I don’t want them issuing a press release or meeting with the Editorial Board of the Union Tribune.

He decided to leave the U-T dig out of his verbal comments. Interesting. Even on the mayor’s website, the U-T line is there.

I might be willing to think he just didn’t read it right, except that he left another interesting sentence out of his public reading of his statement.

At one point, I gave serious consideration to putting an end to the Kroll investigation in spite of the fact that KPMG has made it clear that without it, they will not issue audited financial statements for Fiscal Year 2003. I shared my thoughts with the City Attorney

He left that city attorney sentence out of his public comments. Why would he read everything else clear but then not those two points?
