The Associated Press is reporting that University of San Diego head football coach Jim Harbaugh has taken the head coaching job at Stanford.

From the article on ESPN.com:

Harbaugh had spent the last three years as head coach at the University of San Diego, a non-scholarship Division I-AA program. He led the Toreros to a 29-6 record, winning 27 of his final 29 games at San Diego.

The AP also is reporting that the Padres and former Atlanta Braves second baseman Marcus Giles were close to signing a deal. Marcus’ brother, Brian, is also a Padre. Both are from San Diego.
