So it turns out a lot of other people did a much better job of covering our own Politifest than we did.

East County Magazine even recorded and published the Politifest mayoral debate, which I moderated along with the venerable Gene Cubbison from NBC 7 San Diego. It turned out to be a pretty fun one, so here’s a chance to catch it if you missed it.

Opening Statement: Your Vision for San Diego

Each candidate got three minutes to detail their vision for what San Diego would be if they were elected mayor. Click on the candidate’s name to watch the YouTube:

David Cardon

Hud Collins

Loch David Crane

Bob Filner

Nathan Fletcher

Steven Greenwald

Rob Harter

Gino’s Rapid-Fire Round

Next, Gene gave the candidates 30 seconds per question to explain their stance on three major issues.

Comprehensive Pension Reform, the initiative Republican leaders are trying to get on the ballot for 2012.

Chargers stadium. For more, check out our ongoing coverage of the stadium search.

Medical marijuana.

What Can San Diego Learn from Other Cities

Perhaps inspired by just returning from vacation, I wanted to know what candidates thought we could learn from other cities.

How Can We Avoid Another Blackout?

In the wake of the Sept. 8 blackout, Gene asked the two elected office holders, Filner and Fletcher, how we can avoid another blackout. Watch their responses here.

Let me know what you thought about the debate and start planning for Politifest 2012.
