When I went to photograph Art of Élan’s Kate Hatmaker for this weekend’s Q&A feature, I knew I’d want to get her outside of Symphony Hall, as her organization aims to take classical music outside of its normal context.

Hatmaker was a good sport, and I convinced her to roam the streets of downtown San Diego while playing her violin.

I shot photos as we walked, but also attached a small video camera on top of my regular camera to capture some of the sounds and movement. Here are two short videos of Hatmaker playing the Allemande movement from Partita No. 2 in D minor by J.S. Bach.
