Your article on the Convention Center was on point and deserves a follow-up. You might want to first look at Don Bauder’s article in the December 14 Reader “The Convention Center Liars” as well as Steven Malanga’s article in Saturdays’ Wall Street Journal, “Have We Got a Convention Center to Sell You!”

The latter article points out that from 2000 to 2010 attendance at conventions fell about 30 percent yet new white elephants have increased available space tremendously.

It would be illuminating to see the actual audited statements of the existing center for the last few years as a well as the projections that show the center can pay off substantial new debt.
