The first fully accredited school of its kind in the world, Bastyr University was founded in 1978, and has grown to become the world’s leading academic center for advancing and integrating knowledge in the natural health arts and sciences. With its main campus near Seattle, Washington, Bastyr offers doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate programs at its campus in San Diego.
Bastyr University’s singular presence among institutions of natural medicine rests on rigorous science-based curricula, exceptional faculty members who are dedicated teachers, pioneers and pillars in the natural health community, and a support structure that enables students to succeed.

Bastyr University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the accrediting body for higher education in the seven-state Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Bastyr’s Naturopathic Medicine, Dietetics, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Midwifery programs are also accredited by the lead education councils for those areas of study.
