A youth soccer team wanted to travel to and from San Diego for a tournament. A group of tourists from Greece wanted to see some San Diego sights. A family celebrating a local reunion wanted to keep transportation to the venue easy for everyone. A businesswoman wanted to show her clients around San Diego. And nonprofit investigative news organization Voice of San Diego wanted to bring its members to a public affairs discussion on affordable housing and gentrification.

All of these customers credit GOGO Charters San Diego with providing them with efficient group transportation services.

“Anywhere you need to go, as many buses as you need, we can do it,” said Madeline Parks, content marketing manager for Atlanta-based GOGO Charters. “If you have 500 people or if you just have 15 people, we do our best to accommodate your needs.”

GOGO Charters San Diego has access to more than 200 charter buses for travel locally, to areas including Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and even from coast to coast. Parks said GOGO Charters San Diego is a popular option for wedding parties, private vacations, corporate retreats, business conferences, and even busy conventions like Comic-Con International: San Diego.

GOGO Charters was founded in 2013 as a transportation logistics and charter bus booking company with operations in more than 300 cities in the United States and Canada. Group transportation clients have included Microsoft, Pfizer, and Wells Fargo.

The company has reservation agents available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A charter bus can be booked with as little as two-hours’ notice, though advanced reservations are preferred, Parks said.

The climate-controlled buses feature amenities including reclining seats, ADA-accessibility elements, televisions with DVD players, power outlets, Wi-Fi, and on the larger buses, onboard restrooms. A professional certified driver is provided.

Prices — per hour, per day, or per mile — vary based on the number of passengers, time of year, number of stops along the way, and the overall duration of the trip.

GOGO Charters offers as an example a summertime trip for a San Diego high school baseball to a playoff game in Los Angeles. The team selected a charter bus rental with a seating capacity of 50 for their team of 17 players and four coaches, along with all their luggage and sports gear. The head coach received a quote for $1,700 and tipped the driver 10 percent, for a final cost of $1,870.

Evan Downton, director of business development for GOGO Charters, said the charter vehicle rental company uses technology to differentiate itself in the industry. Its proprietary software has access to real-time availability data that can match customers with bus operators.

“We can tell you what the accurate availability for a charter bus is, not just quote a trip,” Downton said.

He said the data is particularly useful for last-minute reservations such as emergency evacuations, summits, protests and marches, or even if another transportation service cancels with too little notice.
