There’s just one City Council seat that San Diego voters can weigh in on Election Day: District 1, which is made up of the city’s northwestern neighborhoods.

In the latest edition of San Diego Explained, departing reporter Keegan Kyle and NBC 7 San Diego’s Catherine Garcia break down what’s important to know about the race where Democrat incumbent Sherri Lightner and Republican challenger Ray Ellis are facing off. Whoever wins will determine the partisan makeup of the council.
