The big buzz in news this week was that Democrats have already settled on a replacement for Toni Atkins’ job of speaker of the Assembly.

Christopher Cadelago from The Sacramento Bee told us on the podcast that Atkins wasn’t going to get the chance to see another budget cycle play out, so it’s hard to see this as a major rebuke to her. We also asked him what defined her tenure as speaker. He called her “a very steady hand” as opposed to citing any major initiatives.

Also on the podcast, Scott shares his simple secret to raising children, we discuss the recent Convention Center expansion report, touch on the public report Poway Unified Superintendent John Collins heavily edited before releasing and discuss how SANDAG’s transit plan lacks any real teeth when it comes to compelling cities to build transit-friendly developments.
