Monday June 19, 2006 | The San Diego region must not let a few, closed-minded dilettantes relegate San Diego to the past. Modern airports are not being built downtown anymore. The military does not fire cannons or conduct live bomb training over cities anymore. The A/C noise concerns are solved by new aircraft and distance (altitude).

To meet BRAC consolidation requirements the military can safely/securely place fixed-wing A/C at North Island and rotary-wing A/C at Pendleton or other fields to the east with other USN/USMC A/C and keep national security , money and jobs in the region. A few uninformed persons should not rule the future of San Diego. Citizens gladly host the military but must not let the Navy control this county (e.g. Embarcadero).
