Monday, June 19, 2006 | In response to Friday Airport Factoid by Mr Davis. I would like to give him an interesting thought. I attended the SD Fair Thursday and saw a booth sponsored by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. I stopped in and stated I could not support the ballot measure as written because I did not believe I wanted an unelected body negotiating with the federal government on behalf of the city and county.

I was surprised at their answer, “the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority runs the airport and who should negotiate with the federal government?” I found this answer repulsive. Whatever the outcome, I want elected officials answerable to me to negotiate with the feds. Additionally, I do not want another 30 years of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority involved in local government. Let them run the airport and let the people set policy. Just who do these people think they are?
