Calling global warming “the biggest environmental threat to our economy and community,” City Councilwoman Donna Frye announced today her intent to discuss the local impact of climate change during a Wednesday council committee hearing.

Frye has invited Cecilia Aguillar of Kyocera Solar and Richard Somerville, a distinguished professor with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, to join her. The panel is slated to hear from local companies about how they are combating global warming and discuss potential local solutions.

The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building at 202 C. St. Frye has also scheduled a press conference for 1:30 p.m.
