Just got in touch with Mayor Jerry Sanders’ spokesman, Fred Sainz, regarding the phone number thing. He said he feels “horrible” that couple in their 80s has been mistakenly receiving his calls at all hours for the last two and a half years.
“I get calls day and night — I can only imagine how disturbing they must find it,” Sainz said of the El Cajon couple whose phone number is the same as his, except for the area code.
“I need to call them to apologize.”
However, Sainz did not give the impression that he’d be willing to change his number. He said he’s had it ever since the 858 area code was created in 1999.
Fair enough Fred, but the El Cajon couple has had their number since 1960, the year John F. Kennedy was elected president.
