Conspicuous in his absence from Monday’s all-important City Council vote on San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders’ proposed budget cuts was Councilman Ben Hueso.
I’ve been trying to reach Hueso, and finally got in touch with his chief of staff, Ana Molina-Rodriquez, today. Regarding his absence, Molina-Rodriquez vaguely referenced other business he had to attend to. But she did say that Hueso would have voted along with the 6-1 council majority to save libraries, recreation centers and fire crews from the budget ax.
