Well, that explains it.
There was a lot of head scratching about why Stephen Rosen, a San Diego Unified school board candidate who had earlier described himself as a Democrat, didn’t vie for the local Dems’ endorsement in the race for Katherine Nakamura’s seat.
It turns out that Rosen recently decided that he isn’t a Democrat after all, but an independent. “I have come to realize the impact that special interests have on the whole process” in the school district, Rosen wrote in an e-mail. He said he believes being an independent will insulate him from those special interests.
Rosen changed his registration to decline to state last month.
