I’ve been experimenting lately with a function in my camera that allows me to instantly merge two photos into one frame. Back in the days of film, it would have been a much more arduous process to create an image like this one. I would have to shoot my image and roll the film back, hoping to align the frame perfectly so that one image laid over the other.

In the digital age, I simply set my camera, a Nikon D300, into multiple exposure mode. This image features two massive media companies in one frame. It’s a compilation of the USA Today newsstand and the NBC building in downtown San Diego (full disclosure, NBC 7/39 is our media partner). I’m hoping to pair some other interesting images in the future. If you have any suggestions for two pictures that were made to be together, email me at sam.hodgson@voiceofsandiego.org.
