Listen to the latest episode of our radio show on KOGO AM 600, which airs Saturdays at 7 a.m.

Scott Lewis talks with San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, who is also running for mayor. They talk about the mayor’s race and DeMaio’s roadmap for recovery.

Among other things, DeMaio lays out why the 2012 mayoral election matters:

The reason why the labor unions control city government is because San Diegans were so busy over the past 15-20 years. They’re busy with their lives, their families, their neighborhoods, our wonderful beaches and bays, the beautiful weather out here. They were so busy and distracted with all those great things about San Diego that they forgot to continue to pay attention to city government and in the meantime, the labor union bosses for government unions and the lobbyists for big business, they took over control of our city government. They took over control of our public finances for their own purposes. So I’ve challenged San Diegans: If you want to see your city changed, you need to be part of the solution.
